“Unquiet souls. In the dark fermentation of earth, in the never idle workshop of nature, in the eternal movement, yea shall find yourselves again.”

Matthew Arnold

The Israeli Fermentation Society (IFS) was founded in 2016 with a mission to develop and support the expanding fermentation ecosystem in Israel.

At the Israeli Fermentation Association, we’re on a mission to ignite passion for fermentation. We aim to educate, inspire, and connect enthusiasts and professionals alike. By fostering a dynamic community and spearheading innovative research, we envision a world where the wonders of fermentation are accessible to all, enhancing food, health, and culture in exciting ways.

Our Goal

Our goal is to curate and spread the most current and valuable information on fermentation from Israel and across the globe. This involves technological and scientific advancements, comprehensive services covering all stages of fermentation, and the work of scientists and research institutions dedicated to this interdisciplinary domain. By doing so, we aim to boost the advancement of the field, catalyzing the development of novel technologies, scaling up of fermentation processes, and refining separation and formulation techniques for mass industrial production.

Fermentation Conference: Israel's Industry Nexus

The IFS’s flagship event is the Annual Fermentation Conference, a tradition that has become the cornerstone for all stakeholders in Israel’s fermentation-based industries. The conference is a productive ground for sharing knowledge, fostering professional growth, and enhancing collaborative efforts. It serves as a forum for vibrant discussions and the exchange of ideas among innovators, entrepreneurs, researchers, investors, industry veterans, suppliers, and field experts, addressing the full spectrum of technological and ecological considerations, as well as the symbiotic relationship between academia and the commercial sector.

Leadership and Acknowledgments

The IFS is directed by a dedicated board of directors, comprising approximately 20 volunteers from various industrial sectors integral to fermentation. We extend our deepest gratitude to each member for their invaluable and noble contributions.
